YMCA Kids Summer Program - Logo

We’re running a summer program at the YMCA for kids (from 5 to 18 years old) using the edubuntu Linux distribution, and it’s proving to be very interesting.
The kids are divided into three sessions: 5-11 year-olds, 12-16 year-olds, and 17-18 year-olds. The 5 to 11s, as to be expected, simply want to play games all […]

Found this in the back of right choice supermarket today, on a dusty shelf. A whole collection of them - witches and wizards casting spells and flying around on broomsticks and calling forth manifestations from the spirit realm. It depends, of cours, on people using it and honoring the requests they get, […]

function checkOblig(){
var oblig_fields = $$(’.obligatory’); // Get all obligatory […]

Edubuntu Summer Camp Over

So we finally finished the edubuntu summer camp, and had a ‘graduation ceremony’. We told the parents about Free and Open Source Software, and burnt edubuntu live CDs for them to take home and run on their own PCs.
All in all, it wasn’t a bad summer camp - the kids went away with a lot […]

African Political Writings

I discovered this website [http://www.freeafrica.org/] today which contains quite a lot of interesting essays about Africa, and African government and politics.

Gambiahackers Conference

We held our first gambiahackers meeting/conference last week. It allowed a few of us to get together, and have a few talks about computer-related topics. You can find out more (including downloading the talks themselves) here.
